This DVD uses period newsreels and Department Of Defense footage to document this disturbing period of history.

It starts out with a condemnation of the German government behavior by three well know Americans in 1938 who attempt to warn of the atrocities to come.

The first actual scenes of carnage come from the newsreel Nazi Murder Mills from 1945. This was one of the first actual attempts to document how both prisoners and others were treated.

The main part of the DVD is contained in Nazi Concentration Camps from 1945. This is a compilation of footage from Nazi camps in the immediate aftermath of World War II. This footage was gathered by the US Department Of Defense as part of the effort to conduct war crimes trials. This film originally contained six sections broken down by reels. It is presented here by concentration camp so each camp can be easily found. See below for the chapter breaks on the DVD.

After this, the DVD shows the results of some of the war crimes trials in various newsreels covering the early sentencing of a convicted war criminal, through the opening of the Nuremberg trials, the evidence presented, and the conviction and sentencing of 21 Nazi chiefs.

The DVD has a running time of 1 hour and 17 minutes.

If you have an interest in this period of history, this is an excellent addition to any collection. While it is highly disturbing, it is necessary to understand how this could happen.
